Soil Vapor Investigation and Mitigation Design

An undocumented landfill area was discovered during development of a large-scale residential subdivision in Peachtree City, Georgia. Extensive soil vapor sampling indicated that the waste was creating unacceptable concentrations of methane in proximity to planned lots. A mitigation plan was created to safely develop the lot which included installation of a soil vapor interceptor trench, utility saddle dams, and subslab vapor barrier systems.
